We are excited to write to you and celebrate the Sab's 25th anniversary.
Since our founding twenty-five years ago — originally as the Sablière Society — and our decision ten years ago to open our doors and become the gender-inclusive space now known as the Sab Club, we have built an extraordinary community through shared experiences: weekly club dinners, holiday and affinity celebrations, and the friendships that outlast them all. That community continues to grow as we prepare to welcome our next class of members this fall.
Sab 25 is a two semesters-long campaign to commemorate our 25th anniversary — but more importantly, to build towards our club's future. The campaign culminates in a Celebration and Alumni Dinner slated for New York City in April 2027.
Parents — it is our privilege to share this space with your child, and to know you, too, as part of the wider circle that makes this community possible. Alumni — know that we are so proud of what you have accomplished in life after Harvard. Your undergraduate Sab family continues to be your biggest cheerleaders.
Thank you for taking the time to read through this page. It offers a glimpse of the Sab as it is now: shaped by those who came before, and sustained by those who choose to invest in it. The Sab President & The Sab Board
What We Have Built
The Sablière Society, the all-female predecessor to the Sab Club, was founded in 2002 as an undergraduate social club intended to unite women interested in arts, culture, and intellectual pursuits.
Its founders were six Harvard College juniors: Brooke L. Chavez '04, who initiated the concept and served as founding president; Angie J. Thebaud '04, who handled social organization as founding social chair; Eugenia B. Schraa '04, who proposed the society's namesake; Caroline L. Donchess '04; Brittany J. Garza '04; and Maria S. Pedroza '04.
The name “Sablière” derives from Marguerite Hessein de la Sablière (1635–1692), a prominent 17th-century French intellectual, salonnière, and patron of the arts who hosted literary gatherings in Paris and supported the fabulist poet Jean de La Fontaine. Madame Sablière, as club members lovingly refer to her, is also credited with popularizing the practice of adding milk to tea.
In September 2016, the Sablière Society announced its commitment to transitioning to a gender-neutral organization by the following fall. In March 2017, the rebranded Sab Club inducted its first class of 14 male members alongside women. In doing so, it became the first, and remains the only, all-female Final Club to have gone all gender.

The Sab's Clubhouse at 1130 Mass Ave was established in 2021 through the generosity of former Presidents Chloe Georgeaux Healey '22 and Emmy Semprum '23.
The Clubhouse serves as the home base for all club activities — from weekly dinners and brunches, to large social gatherings, to quiet study sessions. Preserving and improving the house is the foremost mechanism for the continued success of the Sab.
The building at 1130 Massachusetts Avenue forms part of a brick row (1130–1134) that the Cambridge Historical Commission dates to about 1869. It was raised during the period when the horse railway and the growth of Harvard College were transforming the once-residential Harvard Square into a commercial corridor.
This upcoming spring not only represents the 25th anniversary of the Sab, but the 10th anniversary of its all gender status. We are excited to mark the occasion through the Sab 25 Celebration & Alumni Dinner in New York City — and know there is much history to come.

The Sab prides itself on offering one of the most generous financial aid packages of any Final Club on campus. Our recruitment process is need-blind, and we commit to matching a member's Harvard Financial Aid package upon initiation.
This is not a universal practice among Final Clubs — and it is one of the reasons the Sab is such a special addition to campus.

What We're Building Towards
The Sab Longevity Initiative refers to our goal of working towards ownership of the clubhouse at 1130 Mass Ave, and improving the space in the meantime. The Clubhouse is well loved — but that also means that it has experienced significant wear and tear since it was purchased 5 years ago.

Financial aid remains our highest priority — but it is also limiting the financial health of the club. In 2025, financial aid constituted 33% of our expenses.
We need financial support to grow as a club while continuing to offer one of the most generous aid packages of any Final Club on campus.

How You Can Help Build

While we are still in the early stages of planning, the celebration will include a cocktail hour, a sit-down dinner, and plenty of dancing afterwards — open to all alumni and supporters of the Sab, be they parents, partners, or close friends.
Pre-registering isn't a commitment to attend — but allows us to plan appropriately. By giving us an early headcount, you guarantee we can accomadate everyone comfortably. Please let us know if you are hoping to make it!
A Voice in the Club
Our 25th anniversary brings the Sab family to more than 400 alumni. To formalize alumni involvement, we're instituting two systems: a Graduate Board, and annual alumni dues.
Dues give you a voice in the decisions of the Sab — but more importantly, they make sure the club fits your needs.
